The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a premier institute of India specializing in foreign trade and management, is conducting a five-day Executive Development Programme on International Business from 23 to 27 March 2015 in Maputo. IIFT is conducting this capacity development programme in collaboration with the Instituto Superior de Relações Internacionais (ISRI) of Mozambique. The programme, which is fully funded by the Government of India, is being attended by around 50 Mozambican executives representing the government as well as private companies, largely drawn from the energy and finance sectors.

The inaugural ceremony held at ISRI’s Maputo Campus on 23 March, was attended by ISRI Vice-Chancellor Dr.José Magode, and Scientific Director Prof. Dr. Hilario Simões Cau in adition to the Indian High Commissioner and the Programme Director of IIFT. Addressing the gathering, the Indian High Commissioner H.E. Mr.Pavan Kapoor, said he was happy that for the first time India was bringing the classroom to Mozambique. This was aimed to benefit a larger number of participants. He also drew the attention of the participants to India’s 2008 Duty Free Tariff Preference (DFTP) Scheme for goods from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and to India’s February 2015 offer on services to LDCs at the WTO in Geneva, calling upon them to make use of these schemes to increase Mozambique’s exports to India.

The valedictory function is scheduled to be held on 27 March 2015, when the participants will provide their feedback and also receive certificates of participation from IIFT and ISRI.
